Hello, this is Mattia! I am from Savigliano, a small town in the North-West of Italy. I studied in Torino, where I completed my B.Sc. in Physics Engineering (PoliTO) and my M.Sc. in Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics (UniTO). Currently, I am finishing my Ph.D. in Cosmology and Astrophysics at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics (ITA), University of Oslo (UiO).
I am always looking for new challenges and I want to find the best solution to new problems. I am looking forward to improving my knowledge. I love problem-solving, programming, numerics and computation. I really enjoy working with other people in a team: it means learning more and faster.
As a cosmologist and astrophysicist, my job is to unveil the darkest secrets of the Universe. I try to answer questions such as "How did galaxies form?" and "What is dark matter?".
I develop my own algorithms, encoding many different physical phenomena. On the basis of a simple picture of the Universe a long time ago, I simulate the formation of stars, galaxies and dark matter halos on supercomputers, all at once!
Comparing the simulation data with astronomical observations, I can decide whether a model works well, has to be improved, or even discharged. Among the various models I have been working on, the most interesting ones concern dark matter and its mysterious nature.
"Don't listen to what they say, go see" - Chinese proverb
In my free time I love travelling and exploring the world. I have had the opportunity of visiting many places around the globe, but it is a never-ending story: there will always be a new place waiting for me!
Travelling is not just fun, but it also represents an opportunity for personal growth and enrichment. I always come back from a journey as a different person, with a backpack full of new experiences, new memories and new friends.
If you want to know more about myself, my education and my working experience, please contact me or check out my resume!
